How to apply for a UK tourist visa from India?

  • A formal letter from an employer in one's home country. It must demonstrate that you have been granted permission to leave your current work to participate in an exchange or research project in the UK. It is required to include the dates of any approved leave.
  • An official letter from the host institution or organisation in the UK. It must demonstrate in writing that they have made all of the necessary arrangements for the specified exchange or research project.

If you plan to have private medical treatment in the UK, you should know the following:

  • Letter from your doctor stating that you are ill and in need of treatment. Doctor or consultant's letter stating your illness and the necessity for treatment in the UK. Information on private treatment costs, location (and duration) must also be included.
  • Documentation demonstrating that you have covered the total cost of medical care.
  • A letter certifying that you require further care. (If you are applying for a visa extension.) A letter from a doctor or consultant in the UK certifies that you need additional treatment for the disease. It must be accompanied by documentation demonstrating that you have the financial means to cover the costs of such treatment.

If you are planning to donate your organ to a person in need in the UK, you should know the following:

  • A letter identifies you as a prospective donor match or states that you must be tested as a potential donor match. It must be given by the chief nurse/director of the Living Donor Kidney Transplant Team of the relevant NHS Trust in the UK or by a registered doctor working as an NHS consultant. Information on when and where the testing or transplant will occur must be included in the document.
  • Documentation proving the organ recipient's residency in the UK. Photocopies of your organ recipient's British passport or a valid residence permit in the UK.
  • Confirmation that the organ recipient will be in the UK before the transplantation date. (If the organ recipient is located outside of the UK.) Details of their journey to the UK and their name, nationality, and date of birth.

  • Letters of support from venture capital firms in the UK. The Financial Conduct Authority must verify that the company issuing it is legitimate.
  • A letter of support from a UK entrepreneurial seed funding competition that has been endorsed.
  • Letters of support from government departments in the UK.

If you are planning on attending a Professional Training/Assessment, here's what you should know:

  • A letter of confirmation for a PLAB or OSCE test that has been scheduled. You should prepare for a PLAB/OSCE exam if you expect to take one. It must be provided by the General Medical Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council, and it must affirm that the test has been scheduled and scheduled.
